A pouch filled with a proprietary mix of botanicals and probiotics is contained in each "lubao".

The purpose of this is to provide a medium for biofilm to grow on. Best used in high population situations or in starting new tanks. 

Usage as a source of biofilm

Best used in large cycled tanks with a high population of shrimp. The decomposition process in which produces the biofilm will produce ammonia which will require a well established cycled tank to remove. A higher water volume will also help in preventing a spike in parameters. 

The pouch can also be soaked in an unoccupied tank or bucket for the biofilm to form first, then placed into the tank with shrimp for feeding in order to reduce the above mentioned risk.

Usage as a starter for new tanks

Product can be used to start new tanks as it will produce a source of ammonia to begin the cycling process. The probiotics within will also aid in the biofauna in the tank. Please be aware froth will form on the surface during this process and the water will become cloudy. Once the water clears, test water for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels before adding livestock. The lubao is to be removed at the end of this process. 

Low population tanks

For low population tanks, it is recommended to use the mix itself and portion it to cater to the population of shrimp in the tank. The mix can be placed into a DIY tea bag or in a fine mesh net in order for the mix to grow microfilm but not to the extent that the excess will cause an ammonia spike.
